NEW Lipidol Skin Care: Cleansing Face Oil, Overnight Face Oil, Cleansing Body Oil and After Shower Oil | Review

If  you asked me which I prefer in skin care: creams or oils, oils would win hands down. Like many, I used to believe that applying oils directly to the skin was a big no-no, but once I did more research I learned that it is seriously the best thing you can apply to your skin! I've since tried a handful of natural oils, some of my favourites being coconut, rosehip, lavender and geranium. You can imagine my interest when I read that the makers of Bio-Oil had just come out with an affordable range of face and body oils that are meant to lock in moisture and quickly soothe dry skin. This new Lipidol range comprises both face and body oils developed to be fast absorbing and sensitive skin friendly. I've been putting the Cleansing Face Oil*, Overnight Face Oil*, Cleansing Body Oil* and After Shower Oil* to the test to see if they actually work as well as they claim.

The Cleansing Face Oil (C$8.97, 125 ml) not only works as a cleanser, but also doubles as a makeup remover. Similar to how I use coconut oil on my face, I apply this oil directly on my made up face and start massaging it using circular motions. The dirt binds with the oil and with a bit of added water turns into a cream and melts makeup away. All that is left to do is rinse it all off and you are left with a clean complexion that has not been stripped down of its natural oil layer. I was not sure what to expect in terms of smell, but it has a nice fresh scent thanks to Rosemary and Niaouli essential oils.

The Overnight Face Oil (C$8.97, 50 ml) comes in a handy little bottle and as with all the products in this line, dispenses just enough oil because of the smartly designed opening that allows you to control just how much comes out. This one contains Ylang-Ylang and Black Pepper essential oils and has a very refreshing scent. Being a night oil, it takes more time to sink in but provides almost immediate relief of parched skin. I apply this immediately after rinsing off the Cleansing Face Oil which I also include in my night routine.

Now, the Cleansing Body Oil (C$8.97, 200 ml) I was really excited to try in the shower since yes, you use it on wet skin! This one is super refreshing as it contains Lime essential oil. Similar to the Cleansing Face Oil, it emulsifies when mixed with water and creates a nice lather which is easily rinsed off. Whereas normally my skin is calling for a moisturizer as soon as I step out of the shower, I am now left with smooth and soft skin even before I reach for anything else.

The After Shower Oil (C$8.97, 175 ml) not only feels calming thanks to Chamomile essential oil but also supplements the Cleansing Body Oil by prolonging skin smoothness. I am a culprit of taking hot steamy showers which often leaves my skin feeling very dry even before I reach for the towel, so this oil works wonders at retaining moisture and preventing skin from flaking off.

I will admit I did not think I would like this new Lipidol line as much as I do! I was afraid these products would break me out, but on the contrary they are non-comedogenic and have helped calm my skin. Best part, they are easy to get a hold of in Canada as they are available exclusively at

Are you a fan of oils for the skin? Would you give these a try?

  1. Fantastic view, the first time that i hear bout the product!
    Looks great.
Hope you will come and check my last post:
    Wish you a fab week!

  2. I've been looking at these for a while and was curious to hear a review on them. I think I'm definitely going to try the body cleansing oil!

  3. I would love to give Lipidol a try. I have a skin condition called: plaque psoriasis. Just wondering if any or all Lipidol Skin Care products would help my skin to feel smooth and reduce scarring? If your product doesn't work for my skin condition, can you recommend something that would help? Thank you very much. :) I will try the cleansing face oil, the overnight & body cleansing oil.

    1. I am not a skin care expert so I cannot promise this will help for your condition. I would however recommend trying rosehip oil on your face and coconut oil on the body as these are all natural and have done wonders for my skin (check out my recent post on rosehip oil for more info!)
