DERMA E Vitamin C Concentrated Serum & Instant Radiance Citrus Facial Peel | Review

DERMA E Vitamin C Concentrated Serum & Instant Radiance Citrus Facial Peel Review

Vitamin C is a very hot ingredient in the skincare world at the moment, and I've personally been on the hunt for a skincare line that I could test out to see how my skin would fare using this ingredient in a more concentrated way. I got my hands on the DERMA E Vitamin C Concentrated Serum* and Instant Radiant Citrus Facial Peel* recently, which both sounded very promising. I've been using them for close to two months now, so I figured I would check in and share my results so far. I would like to preface my review with the fact that I have combination skin that is also sensitive and acne-prone. What makes vitamin C so fantastic is that not only is it anti-aging but it is also brightening and has even been shown to be damage repairing by helping fade sun damage and dark spots. It also protects the skin from free radicals thanks to its high antioxidant concentration.

DERMA E Vitamin C Instant Radiance Citrus Facial Peel Review

The DERMA E Instant Radiance Citrus Facial Peel was much more intense than I had anticipated. The first time I used it was on a day that I had mostly spent outdoors in the sun, and that combined with my skin sensitivity resulted in me experiencing a mild stinging sensation for the five minutes that I had it on. I went in with a very light layer using the provided spatula, and since it contains visible chunks of orange peel, it can get a little messy if you go in heavy-handed to begin with - so that's something to keep in mind. I've found using this mask brush to apply it makes the whole process that much better. I was afraid that my skin would be tomato red after rinsing, but thankfully it didn't look too irritated (not any more than some of my favourite facial peels that I use regularly). I honestly wasn't sure how well my skin would look the following morning, and to my great surprise (and relief!), I definitely could notice a positive improvement in the look and texture of my skin. This vitamin C peel has definitely provided my skin with a beautiful glow, and with weekly use, I find it has helped fade my acne scars thanks to the exfoliating properties of two sought-after AHAs, glycolic and lactic acid, which are contained in the formula. I have yet to see my dark spots fade, but believe it might just take more time to get to that stage. I am also mindful to use it on days when I am not intensely exposing my skin to the sun to avoid that slight burning feeling I experienced the first time around.

DERMA E Vitamin C Concentrated Serum Review

I will say that the DERMA E Vitamin C Concentrated Serum did not 'wow' me following the first application, but with continued use, I have come to really enjoy it. The formula is very fluid so it sinks in quickly and it does not feel sticky or greasy. High in hyaluronic acid, this water-based serum is super moisturizing and is said to help with collagen health as well as protect the skin against environmental aggressors while also working to fight the signs of aging. Along with stabilized vitamin C, aloe vera and vitamin E, the formula also includes green tea extract, probiotic and rosehip oil. As with all DERMA E products, it is vegan, cruelty-free, gluten-free, soy-free and GMO-free. I've been including this serum as part of my morning routine and since it's so light and quick-absorbing it's great when you are in a hurry or if you want to wear makeup on top. I really like the light citrus scent too. One thing to keep in mind is that a full pump dispenses quite a bit of product, so I only use half of a pump for my entire face and neck. I have serums that I prefer to this one but I would still recommend it if you have a similar skin type and are looking for something that is gentle and non-irritating.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with these DERMA E products! I'm going to be testing more of their skincare range in the coming months, and I'll be sure to share if they work out.

  7. I use vitamin C on my skin and though it isn't this exact product I really think it makes a difference in my skin. I also love using anything with hyaluronic acid because I have naturally dry skin.

  25. I would definitely like to give the serum a try, especially that it is not greasy at all and it absorbs very well. I don't like greasy products at all because I live in a hot climate and the sensation of them "melting" off my face is horrible.

  29. I usually do facial peelings at a spa, but I do like to try stuff at home. Sometimes I don't have time to go to a spa, because I have to be constantly traveling. I'm happy that I can take this product anywhere and have it done by myself. Looks like a great alternative!
