ARTDECO Mystical Forest Collection F/W 2015 | Review + Makeup Look

I don't think there is ever a time when I don't get excited over makeup. Honestly, whether it's a drugstore or high end brand, my heart is always happy whenever I get the chance to try new beauty items. ARTDECO is one of those brands that has been on my radar for a very long time and I was lucky enough to sample a few items from one of their previous collections last year. I also own one of their liquid liners and waterproof mascaras, so when I read about the new ARTDECO Mystical Forest Collection* released for Fall/Winter 2015, I of course couldn't resist! There are quite a few products in this collection and I will be sharing a few eye and lip products I got to try out.

This limited edition collection is really stunning. The first bunch of products I received are these Eye Designer Refills ($14 each) in Mountain Ash (#83)* and Dimgray (#88)* which are to be applied with the Eye Designer Applicator ($18). I was really confused about how to use these together, but after a good five minutes of having a blonde moment I figured it out. The black cap on each Powder Eye Shadow has to be removed so that the double ended sponge tip applicator can be inserted. You then twist the applicator (or the powder tube) to allow the product to be dispensed.

I absolutely love these shadows, they are nicely pigmented and purple is my favourite when it comes to eye makeup. The powders do not flake and they blend nicely too. I'm not a huge fan of the packaging because you have no choice but to use the sponge tip applicator to get the powder out - not the most practical.

I also tried the Soft Eye Liner Waterproof ($12) in Anthracite (#87)*, a matte asphalt grey which really brings out my green eyes. It feels super creamy and just glides on the lid. Bonus points for being smear and waterproof too!

As soon as I applied the Perfect Color Lipstick ($16) in Moutain Rose (#38)*, I was smitten. One way to describe it? My lips but better. This rosy nude lipstick has a bit of a sheen to it and applies like a dream. It is super creamy yet doesn't sink into my lip lines. It is pretty long lasting too and there is no weird scent. I will go as far as say that I have found my new favourite everyday lipstick, it's so lovely!

To add extra shine, I've been topping my lipstick with the Hydra Lip Booster ($18) in Translucent Mountain Rose (#46)*. I'm not a big lip gloss person, but this one I really like. Even on it's own it gives a nice pigment to the lips and does not feel sticky. I like to apply a bit on the center of my lips when I do this lip combination. Both products have a slight vanilla scent to them, nothing overpowering. These two paired together are seriously perfection!

The pigmentation of all of these products is on point. If I had to pick my favourite, the Perfect Color Lipstick in Mountain Rose would take the cake.

The ARTDECO Mystical Forest Collection can be purchased from select Shoppers Drug Mart across Canada.
