7-Day Fresh Face Challenge: Lizora Pu-erh Tea Nourishing Cream | Review

Are you a tea lover? I would definitely call myself one - fruit and herbal teas just happen to be my favourite! Funny enough, it has never crossed my mind to incorporate tea in my skin care routine, but thankfully brands like Lizora make it easy with their ready-to-use, all-in-one product. Lizora says their Pu-erh Tea Nourishing Cream* will basically be your skin's new BFF - this California-made blend contains unique ingredients that will revitalize your skin with natural extracts from around the world. I decided to take them up on their 7-Day Fresh Face Challenge, whereby I only used their cream on my face for an entire week, nothing else. Since it acts as a makeup remover, exfoliator and daily moisturizer, they say there is no need to use anything else. This time has translated into a well-deserved break for my skin since I usually put it through a lot by testing out a bunch of products simultaneously. I wanted to share my experience doing this challenge, so here we go!

You may have guessed that the key ingredient here is Pu-erh, a wild green tea tree which has been grown in the Himalayan mountains for thousands of years. Lizora cultivates its Pu-erh leaves from 500 year old organic wild tea trees that are then carefully fermented to ensure optimal quality so that the skin can reap its calming and soothing benefits. Other ingredients include orange peel oil, Moroccan rose, chrysanthemum flower, beeswax and shea and cocoa seed butter, just to name a few.

This cream has a balmy texture and because it is made with fresh ingredients, it should be used 30 days after opening or within 90 days of receiving if not opened right away. It does not contain any preservatives or fragrance, alcohol or artificial chemicals for that matter and is 100% natural. It is also suitable for all skin types, including sensitive.

To use this tea as a makeup remover, I simple massage it on my wet skin in circular motions and wipe it off with a wet hot cloth. Before bed, I dab a tiny amount on my forehead, cheeks and chin so that my skin can absorb its nutrients and enzymes. Lastly, I used this cream twice throughout the week as an exfoliator by placing the tin in the freezer for 10 minutes so that the product can crystallize and form a rough, grainy texture that easily removes dead skin, and then rinse it off with hot water.

After just a week, my face basically feels as soft as a baby's bottom! I haven't had any bad breakouts during this time either, which is always nice! The down side is that there isn't much product to begin with (15 g or 0.5 oz), which isn't much considering this product costs US$49.00 and only comes in one size.

If you are looking to simplify your skin care routine or give your skin a much needed detox, the Lizora Pu-erh Tea Nourishing Cream is a really great option in my opinion. You can purchase it online on their website.

Have you ever done a topical skin detox before?
