Can you believe how quickly the Holiday season has come? I'm in full gifting mode at the moment since I don't like leaving things to the last minute. While I used to make my way downtown to browse various shops, the last few years I've become much more of an online shopper, especially come Christmas time. Having worked in the retail industry for a number of years and having witnessed how chaotic and stressful one's shopping experience can be, the hermit in me is very grateful to be able to shop from home nowadays. I'll be sharing an awesome gift guide very soon (seriously, you won't want to miss it), but I thought I would start by shining a spotlight on a top contender for the beauty lover in your life: the Glo Minerals Bold Pursuit Collection*. I've been a fan of this brand for a few years now, and this set is too good not to share (pun intended)!
Glo Minerals has released a limited edition collection this year called Pretty Persuasion which includes three different makeup sets as well as a body collection. I received the Bold Pursuit set (US$48/C$64), which features four stunning eye products and a lipstick, namely:
- Cream Stay Shadow Stick in Echo
- Cream Stay Shadow Stick in Toast
- Liquid Ink Eyeliner in Black
- Precision Eye Pencil in Peach
- Lipstick in Date Night
Their Cream Stay Shadow Sticks (US$20/C$26) are super easy to apply and have a built-in sharpener on one end to create a perfect tip at every application. Echo is a matte medium brown with a hint of eggplant (right), while Toast is a beautiful metallic champagne bronze (left). These eyeshadows glide on with ease, and can even be blended out with your fingers. These particular shades are not sold separately, which is a shame since they are so lovely.
The Liquid Ink Eyeliner in Black (US$16.50/C$20) comes with a felt tip applicator, allowing you to get a crisp line without too much difficulty. One thing I will say is that the product dries very quickly once applied, and once it's there it doesn't budge. Funny enough, when I remove it, my makeup remover dissolves it into flakes, but as long as in doesn't flake on me throughout the day, I'd say it's still a winner!
The Precision Eye Pencil in Peach (US$16/C$22) is a nude liner that can be applied on the lower lash line to make your eyes appear larger (same goes for white liner for that matter if you've never tried before). The formula takes a bit of warming up to glide on smoothly, but after a few applications it does the trick. One end also has a sponge smudge tip which comes in handy especially if working with darker shades.
The Lipstick in Date Night (US$18/C$22.50) is a gorgeous deep berry lip shade. Looking at the bullet, one would describe it as cherry red, but it goes on much punchier with what seems to be a hint of fuchsia. Their lipsticks are some of my faves because not only do they have great pigmentation, but they also smell absolutely delicious, with this particular one taking the cake! The formula isn't the creamiest, but once on contact with the lips it glides on with ease.
And now for the completed look using all of the products included in this set!
The Bold Pursuit Collection is decently priced considering its total value of US$90.50/C$116.50, and for the quality I think it's a fantastic gifting option for a friend - or yourself, because who are we kidding?
Glo Minerals can be purchased on their website and via Beauty Store Depot.
