Getting Messy with Jealous Body Scrub | Review

Body scrubs seem to be all the rage right now. I've tried quite a few over the years, however I've only tried a handful of natural ones, which I've quickly grown to love. There are of course many DIY recipes out there, but it sure is nice to get treated to one that is already made for you. Coming out of the rougher months, my skin could definitely use a little extra TLC, so when Jealous Body Scrub* showed up in my mailbox, I couldn't help but put it to the test that same day.

Jealous came nice and frozen due to the -25°C weather, but thawed quickly at room temperature
Don't you just love when products speak to you? Well this one does, quite literally. Jealous Body Scrub almost sounds like a real person with its witty and seductive (you read that right - seductive) way of telling you the best way to use it directly on the packaging ("each time we go into the shower together," and "leave your skin feeling sexy"... just to give you a teaser). But what is so great about this scrub you ask? Let us start with the ingredients. If you are a coffee lover, I can guarantee you will LOVE this stuff. I was never a coffee drinker myself, but I have to admit I've always had a weakness for that roasted coffee bean scent. Mixed with cold pressed, organic coconut oil, now that's what I imagine heaven smells like. I have a professed love for all things coconut, and this scrub hits the spot yet again. The exfoliating agents here are raw brown sugar and sea salt, and the scrub is also infused with vitamin E for added moisture. Five ingredients, that's it. The packaging (aka Jealous) warns us it is inedible despite its natural ingredients... something to keep in mind as the scent could easily be confused with a mug of freshly brewed coffee.

Jealous Body Scrub has many benefits, the most obvious one being the sloughing off of dead skin cells to reveal smoother skin. Other benefits include reducing the appearance of cellulite, eczema, stretch marks, age spots, psoriasis & acne. Basically, skin imperfections don't seem to stand a chance with this one. Acne and stretch marks are my major issues, so I was looking forward to see how Jealous fared. It does feel quite abrasive, but not to the point that my skin turns red from rubbing it in. That's how you can tell a good scrub from a not so good one. It feels really nice on my face too, I just have to be extra careful not to get it in my eyes (and if you do, a quick rinse will help). A little shout out to its packaging is also needed; I love how simplistic, clean and earth-friendly it looks, and the resealable closure keeps it looking and smelling fresh long after opening.

I've been using this coffee scrub for the last couple of weeks, three times a week, and have already noticed small improvements in my face and back acne (yes, it is safe to use on the upper body/face area as well). I can say my stretch marks look less noticeable too. All I do is take a small scoop, making sure to keep it away from water, and get scrubbing on wet skin using circular motions. The key here is not to rinse it off right away - give it a good 5-10 minutes to let it work its skin healing magic. Once it is down the drain, my skin always feels so unbelievably smooth, that I don't even need to follow up with a moisturizer (my preferred one being - you guessed it - coconut oil) because the scrub is already so rich and hydrating. It's important to keep in mind that it shouldn't be used outside of the shower, as it will go all over the place (at first I thought it'd take me forever to clean the bathtub). Thankfully all that is needed is a quick spray of water and it's like the scrub was never there.

Jealous Body Scrub is made fresh in beautiful Vancouver, Canada. It can be purchased online for C$18.95, with international shipping available (free to Canada and US).

I leave you with this song because, well, it's only fitting (Montreal represent)!

Are you falling into the body scrub hype? Would you give this one a try?
