Odacité All Natural and Vegan Skin Care | Review

Proper skin care is something I am very passionate about, and although I do not have perfect skin (far from it actually - in case you haven't seen my videos), I can definitely notice a big difference in my skin's texture and overall appearance if I go a few days without giving it some extra care. I have been experimenting over the last month by only using natural skin care products on my face, and have to say my skin has significantly calmed down from breakouts, especially in the last couple of weeks. I attribute this improved skin to the Odacité* 100% natural line which I've been testing out, with one product in particular I've found to be a huge game changer in calming my pesky breakouts. The entire Odacité range (French for audacity) offers products that are vegan, cruelty-free, non-gmo, and the ingredients are either certified organic or wild crafted from remote areas away from pollution. Just reading this about the company made my heart swoon! But wait, there's more!

Instead of using water, the liquid base for all of their products is Aloe Vera juice (which I've been a fan of for the longest time...proof here), and has gotten a lot of recognition for its skin soothing properties, especially when it comes to redness and overall inflammation. All essential oils used are also cold-pressed so that they do not lose any of their nutrients (which occurs when heating). The story behind the brand is also fascinating to me: the founder was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004, and in her quest to get rid of harmful toxins in her everyday life, took to making her own freshly made skin care, which eventually grew into a business after years of research and dedication. Today,  Odacité ships to over 30 countries, with products always freshly made in sunny California.

The first product I have to share (and my favourite from the line) is the Camelina Chamomile Serum Concentrate (US$35, 0.17 oz or 5 ml) from their Pure Elements collection. It has been incredible at fighting both active flare ups and old scars on my face. As the name implies, it is very concentrated and therefore to be used in combination with a daily moisturizer or a night cream, and all you need is 2-3 drops for the skin to reap its benefits. This Ca + C one specifically targets sensitive skin, but you can find one to suit your skin's needs by checking out the rest of the collection. Camelina, like aloe vera, is super effective to treat inflamed skin, and paired with chamomile, which is known to deeply soothe and calm the skin as well as the nervous system, is an ingredient duo match made in heaven. I think I have honestly never come across a serum that has so quickly improved my skin. Now if only I could have a life supply of the stuff... highly recommend!

Left: dry and flat | Right: wet and expanded
I also got to try a few of the items offered in the Discovery Kit for Combination Skin (US$29)
First, I got a pair of facial sponges, which are the coolest that I've tried by far. They come flat and dry in the package, but within a few seconds of coming in contact with water, they poof up and are super bouncy and soft. However, unlike the Beauty Blender (reviewed here), once wet, the sponge will not shrink back to its original size. What is also neat is that the sponge can be used without a cleanser. I just massage it across my face starting from my forehead down to my neck, always swiping outwards. It is said to help with lymph circulation and decrease puffiness while providing a healthy glow. Using a puffy skin tool to decrease puffiness? I'm all for that!

Next from the kit, I've been using the Rejuvenating Cleanser from the Fresh Collection (full size, including 4 facial sponges US$40, 4 oz or 120 ml). Considering I had a sample size I finished it within a few days since I used it both morning and night. It contains beneficial ingredients such as sunflower oil, rose water, wheat germ oil, radish root ferment, and tamanu oil, just to name a few. This cleanser has more of a liquid cream consistency (if that makes sense) and worked fantastically at removing any impurities leftover from the day or excess oil from a night's sleep. I used it with the sponge and very much enjoyed it for the time I used it.

Then I put the Divine Rose and Neroli Balancing Toner Mist (full size US$45, 4 oz or 120 ml) to the test. Since this was a sample size I once again used it up relatively quickly. This one is suitable for normal or combination skin and works to shrink pores and balance the skin's pH level. Key ingredients include aspen bark extract, olive leaf extract, wheat bran and ylang ylang flower oil. I used this religiously after cleansing with the above-mentioned product and my face felt instantly calm and refreshed. If you have dry or oily skin, they also make two other toners to fit your skin needs.

The last product I have to share with you is the Ultra Effective Eye Cream, also from the Fresh Collection (full size, US$95, 0.5 oz or 30 ml). This sample has lasted me a while since you only need the tiniest amount (and I mean just a dab) for each eye. This eye cream feels very light and absorbs quickly, and I apply it on my lids and around the eyes. Crows feet and dark under eye circles aren't fun, so taking that extra step of introducing an eye cream into your routine is great to both treat and prevent the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This one is formulated with blue-green algae, hyaluronic acid and pomegranate oil, among other anti-aging ingredients, to keep the eyes looking smooth and youthful. Once again, it's love!

The products I got to try are lightly (and naturally) scented, and smell very earthy. Whenever I use products made of only plant-based ingredients, my skin is always so thankful and I break out much less. I am making a conscious effort to use more natural products, and these ones really hit the spot as they are free from all harsh chemicals (including parabens, petrochemicals, phenoxyethanol, fragrance and glycols). Overall, I am very impressed with Odacité, and I really don't think you can go wrong giving any of their products a try! You can purchase their products on their website and in Canada are available at The Detox Market in store and online.

Have you tried any natural skin care lines? Leave me some suggestions in the comments so that I can check them out!

  1. !!!! I was in a shop the other day that carried Odacite, and I was checking out their products, but they are really expensive. I do want to try some of their stuff though, and I didn't know about the aloe juice base!! (This is actually the first time I'm reading Odacite skincare reviews) As for natural skincare lines, I recently picked up a mask from Herbivore. I'm really excited to try that out and branch out into other natural skincare lines!
