September 2013 Empties

I have yet another empties post to share with you all! Since I haven't done one of these in a couple of months, I have accumulated quite the assortment of used-up stuff.

I have finished up mostly skin care and a few odd makeup items, as well as a nail product.

Nutiva Organic Virgin Coconut Oil - I was really glad to finish this jar, not because I didn't like it, but because I had another one waiting to be opened. I'm sure you can all relate: having a back-up of a product and just wanting to get rid of the old one! I am a true believer in the power of coconut oil when used on your skin and hair. You can read more about the benefits of coconut oil here.

Nivea Visage Gentle Toner (for Dry to Sensitive Skin) - This toner has natural almond oil and calendula extract and did not irritate my skin. I wouldn't repurchase just because there are more natural, single ingredient products that can be used as a toner (such as witch hazel reviewed here, which I discovered only after purchasing this product). I've had this bottle for over 2 years and we are finally parting ways... definitely glad to be tossing this one to the recycle bin!

Seche Rebuild Polish - I'm a big fan of this little miracle worker! It is great to put under colored nail polish to prevent yellowing of the nails, and is a really good nail stengthener. I was suffering from cracked and peeling nails and this polish really helped remedy the situation. If you're interested in the other products I use to keep my nails healthy, you can read my nail care routine here.

Rimmel Scandaleyes Show Off Mascara (Black) - I bought this mascara as part of a summer makeup tutorial I created using only Rimmel products. The wand is really funky (in a good way) as it has extra spikes on the very tip, which are great to coat those hard-to-reach lashes in the inner corner of the eye. The formula does dry out quickly, so I would recommend to finish the tube fast if you are like me and go through multiple mascaras at the same time.

The Body Shop Strawberry Shower Gel - Let me start off by saying just how delicious this smells! If you like fruity scents, you will definitely like this product. It lathers up really nicely with a luffa sponge, and a little goes a long way.

Simple Moisturizing Facial Wash - This has become my new favorite cleanser. I use it with my Clarisonic Mia and the two work great together. It is non-irritating and non-drying, and leaves my skin feeling nice and soft. I am on my second bottle already...I just can't get enough of this stuff!

Yves Rocher PurBleuet Gentle Makeup Remover (for Sensitive Eyes) - Perfume and paraben free, I had high hopes for this product as I absolutely loved Yves Rocher's Chamomile makeup remover which has sadly been discontinued. Unfortunately, this stung my eyes quite a bit, but I still managed to finish it. Since getting the Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micelle Solution however, I no longer need an eye makeup remover because it's just that good!

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15 - I was quite disappointed with this lip balm, especially considering its price tag. I got this as part of Sephora's Beauty Insider Birthday Gift last year. It took me forever to finish because I couldn't stand the scent. It is very citrus-y, and although I don't usually mind lemon-y scents, this one was just too overwhelming for me. I say don't waste your money and get Burt's Bees Honey Lip Balm instead.

Bath & Body Works Sweet Pea PocketBac Anti-Bacterial Hand Gel - I chose this particular scent because I had previously tried the Sweet Pea range shampoo and conditioner and really liked them. In all honesty, all of the PocketBac hand gels smell delicious and I would recommend any one of them.

Benefit They're Real! Mascara - I really wanted to like this mascara since soo many people have been raving about it. Unfortunately it left me quite unimpressed. I found the formulation to be too wet, and it wasn't black enough for my liking. It separated my lashes but didn't provide them with any volume. I had gotten a free sample of this, so thankfully I did not waste my money since this mascara is really expensive.

Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes - Another Simple product I have fallen in love with! These towelettes are so gentle on the skin, and they remove both face and eye makeup with ease. I like using these wipes when I have a full face of makeup, prior to cleansing.

The Body Shop Mineral Powder Blotting Tissues - I carry these blotting tissues with me everywhere I go. They are seriously the best ones I've tried! I dedicated a whole post on this product, which you can read here.

And there you have it, all of the stuff I can now happily toss! Let me know if you've tried any of these products and what you thought of them! :)

  2. I have to check out the Rimmel mascara! I love most of their mascaras and like the idea of the bristles on the end for those inner corner eyelashes. I need to commit to finishing a product once I open it, ha!

  9. Hey, what a coincidence! I actually got the same coconut oil today! I look forward to using it :)

I do like the Simple Moisturizing wash, but I don't like how it foams up on my skin, which causes it to dry out my skin a bit. I'm not too pleased with Benefit's mascara either.
